It’s easy to slip into the mindset of authority when you’re raising a child. After all, you’re responsible for 🧑🏾🏫 guiding them, 🧑🏽🍼 protecting them, 🧑🏿🏫 teaching them right from wrong.
But in the midst of it all, we sometimes forget one simple, powerful truth:
🧒🏽 Your child is a human being. ✨

They are not just “your child” — they are a whole person, with thoughts, feelings, ideas, and a right to be treated with respect. Not because they’ve earned it, not because they’re obedient, but because they 💡 exist.
When we model respectful behavior — listening 🧏🏾, validating emotions 🌫️, honoring boundaries 🚫 — we do more than raise polite children.
We show them what respect feels like.
And in turn, we show them that we deserve respect, too. 🤝
💖 So when we say, “Parenting is a relationship,” this is what we mean. It’s a two-way street of connection, compassion, and communication.
